Teardrop supernova final image 2021

Teardrop Supernova was inspired by an international team of astronomers who discover a teardrop shaped star that it predicts is about to explode in a supernova. The pull of the white dwarf is so great that it will eventually cause the teardrop shaped star to explode and consume both. The tears I have that explode and consume me are a reminder that we are all connected and that gives me hope.

In making the work I felt the folding of washi to make the shape and using natural indigo dyes and pigment creating the universal shades of blue with 22ct moon gold leaf .
